WEBECO Hygiene in Medicine and Laboratory

WEBECO then

Webeco in Selmsdorf Fritz Webecke founded the company Webecke & Co in 1946 and started the production of various electrical devices, such as irons and chicken breeding devices. In 1950 the first hot-air sterilizers were introduced to the market. Thus, the course for medical technology has been set. 1955 followed small steam sterilizers for dentists and practicing medical doctors. At that time the sterilizers were equipped with a cuboid-shaped chamber for the first time, in order to be able to take in the new sterilization trays according to Scandinavian standard optimally.

At the beginning of the 60's Webeco was considerably involved in the development of the new VDV procedure (vacuum steam vacuum) and introduced the rapid sterilizer OPS 336 with VDV procedure. Shortly after that the first VDV steam disinfection device followed.

In 1965 Webeco started the production of ethylene-oxide (EO) sterilizers. Simultaneously Webeco initiated the development of a formaldehyde sterilizer. Soon the advantages of the formaldehyde sterilization compared to ethylene-oxid sterilization were obvious. Thus, Webeco abandoned the EO-product line.

Webecos position in the market for sterilization at low temperatures was stabilized by the continuous further development of the 1979 first formaldehyde sterilizer to today´s modern "Low-Temperature-Steam and Formaldehyde (LTSF) Sterilizer" FA95. In 1992 Webeco innovated with the small steam sterilizer A35-EN, which combined for the first time the whole efficiency of large hospital sterilizers clinical sterilisatoren in itself. The appropriate requirements for such devices will be specified in foreseeable time in the European standard EN 13060. In the meantime the new GENERATION 2000 of Webeco small steam sterilizers is successfully introduced to the market with a number of completely new-developed characteristics. Result: in over 50 years of its history Webeco was actively involved in the development of disinfection and sterilization technology .

Technical solutions for hygiene in medical and industrial areas have been and are still offered with a high quality awareness. In 1997 the Webeco quality management system was certified by TÜV Rheinland Product Safety. Medicine products of Webeco are marked by CE0197.

In 1995 the former Webeco GmbH was taken over and re-founded as WEBECO Hygiene in Medizin und Labor GmbH & Co. KG by Dr. J. Griefahn. From 1995 to 2000 restructuring and modernization of WEBECO has been carried out under supervision of Dr. Griefahn and H. Golz.
